Tim Cook Calls Out "This Fall" On Apple's Conference Call

23 April 2013

MacStories:

“We see great opportunities in front of us…we are confident in our product plans”

“Our teams are working on new hardware, software, and services that we can’t wait to introduce this Fall and throughout 2014″

This callout is uncharacteristic, making it very notable. In my mind, this quote from Cook was the most important part of today’s earnings call. It basically wipes out the possibility of a summer iPhone launch and implies that, like last year, WWDC is going to be a software event. A new Mac Pro is not out of the question1, but — based on the lack of rumours surrounding it — seems unlikely at this stage.

1 The Mac Pro may be significant to Apple die-hards, but it has no impact on financials. That’s why it isn’t considered “significant” on the earnings call.
