Apple Takes First Place In US Mobile Phone Marketshare For The First Time Ever

Strategy Analytics:

estimate Apple shipped 17.7 million mobile phones for a record 34 percent share of the United States market in the fourth quarter of 2012. This was up sharply from 12.8 million units shipped and 25 percent share in Q4 2011. Apple has become the number one mobile phone vendor by volume in the United States for the first time ever.

I think this reinforces the fact that Apple isn’t ‘struggling’ in the US for marketshare. The iPhone is winning against Android in the US. It is in the (relatively) poorer European countries where iPhone sales have slowed in the last few months.

The cheap iPhone is mainly targeted at China, but its significance in stimulating iPhone sales in certain price-sensitive European markets should not be understated.
