One Study Claims Apple Has Taken 53% Smartphone Marketshare In The US

Kantar World Panel:

The latest smartphone sales data from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech shows Apple has achieved its highest ever share in the US (53.3%) in the latest 12 weeks*, with the iPhone 5 helping to boost sales. In Europe, however, Android retains the highest share with 61% of the market, up from 51.8% a year ago.

Seems like good news for Apple’s US performance, assuming this data is reliable; I haven’t personally heard of Kantar before.

In regard to European sales, which are reported at 25% marketshare, I wonder if Apple is just biding their time. Rather than make a crappier-cheaper-product, if they just wait it out; they can probably make the same strides in Europe as they have in the US once the economy is recovering.
